So call me (out), baby

THE OPTIONS

Chii (Chobits)
Shizuo Heiwajima (Durarara!!) [[Usually post 13th novel]]
/ Kyoko Megami/Setsuka Heel (Skip Beat!) [[Same character, two identities]]
Gou Matsuoka (Free!)
Eliot Spencer (Leverage)
Kaj Fordu (Original) [[Click this link for info. More limited to various game world settings, or showing up in hopes of having one of the involved's day ruined. Kaj is also pronounced like it is in Kajsa.]]

THE HOW-TO
  • Make a top-level comment choosing one of the muses above.
  • Make up any scenario, even game settings if you say which!
  • Can be in any sort of format. Formal/Informal/comment spam/w/e
  • Some of these are probably either lacking icons or have all the good ones locked from back in their premium days. Either those or they're placemakers for when I'm not so lazy and color better icons. Not a how-to, but a heads up.

If it's about using his time, Izaya can think of better things to do than to track down Shizuo and follow him around. Just looking at that protozoan fills him with something like disgust, but that's just how it is, and, as always, he has his reasons for doing what he's doing.

Which isn't to say he won't bend the rules of logic a bit to have more fun with the idea. It has been a while since he's played with this particular toy, and he may as well take the good with the bad, by force if he needs to.

So maybe he's not being all that stealthy, and maybe he gets just a little too close on purpose. Maybe he's giving Shizuo every opportunity to become aware of his presence - and maybe he'll still hide from view at the critical moment, just to see how much he can irritate Shizuo before the guy snaps. It's not like that's hard to accomplish, but... life is all about the little pleasures, isn't it?

So you're saying to play double-pretend? Ooh, fancy pants.

Turns out that, without direct trouble coming at Shizuo's head, he's rather dull. Like he's some normal person living the perfectly normal life of a debt collector and bodyguard for another debt collector. Though it's quick after Izaya's following game begins that the guy starts getting increasingly irritated. Enough so that at one point, there was the clear crashing sound of something getting tossed (or destroyed, knowing how things could go with Shizuo,) at one of the target's homes.

Sometimes it's just amazing how much Izaya could ruin his day just by being in the area and not even seen at first.

It's not too far off from lunchtime when Shizuo finally catches sight of that damn coat. So he excused himself from Tom for a few minutes, not really waiting for a response because since when is he ever able to hold off for that long. In fact, his tolerance for fleas is so short right now that he doesn't even wait to get something to go over and swing at Izaya. While doing his usual "I-za-ya-kun," a swift kick sends one of the rows of vending machines, usually bolted and grounded into the sidewalks, flying right towards the information broker's location. "Something stunk like shit all day. Should've known it was you."

Ah, there we go... A brief wave of exhilaration is probably not the appropriate response to what, for most people, would qualify as a murder attempt, but the wait has lasted long enough, and Izaya is pleased that things are finally getting started. Watching Shizuo get ever more irritated had a certain charm, but Izaya can only summon so much patience when he's not directly involved in what's happening.

He's prepared for the attack, of course - he's been prepared from the start - and, rather than dodging the approaching vending machine, he jumps up, balancing on the slanting surface until it succumbs to gravity and settles on the ground with a loud crash. His coat billowing from the landing, Izaya stays where he is, right on top of that vending machine, because... why not? Besides, he does so enjoy looking down on people.

"Honestly, I'm surprised it took you that long. I've been dropping hints from the moment you left home." Not actually true, but close enough - and who'd prove him wrong, anyway? The truth is a matter of perception, and Izaya knows just how to create it to his satisfaction. "I almost think you're regressing even further, Shizu-chan."
