A very happy holiday, whatever it is you celebrate or simply take advantage of. I hope that, in this opportunity, you're getting caught up on needed rest, quality time with friends and/or family, and aren't suffering through a cold, or anything like that!

For you Hetalia fans, here's a gift!

In other news, all that's needed is to pick up the fabric, and I can finish up this Hungary cosplay. :3 I have the pan, the hair, I can finish up the hair accessory with no problem. It's now just a case of the -hard- part.

Either way, I wish you all:
Health
Wealth
and Serenity.

Now, let me tell you, New York Anime Fest was a blast- And I don't only mean the LARP I was at. At many conventions,  you're faced with this issue of getting in to lines, trying to find what panel, or screening, you're going to. Not  here, however. There wasn't even a line for the dealers room!

Well, that's because of NYAF's layout. Once the doors open, and you're let in, you're already in the Dealer's Room. To the right of those escalators, before the theatre, was Artist Alley. On the opposite side of the theatre, was the stage used for many of the events. From maids, to more maids, to even more maids, and then even more maids, there was also a Neo-Victorian Fashion show, and Uncle Yo's standup for a little while. If you wanted to beat the crap out of each other, there was a designated zone for that as well. All in all, it was easy to find where you were going, even with everyone sitting around.

LARP, as that was one major reason I was there, was very, very fun. Something that might take a couple more days of sleep to recall completely. Let's just say that it was brilliant chaos. The only gripe I have, isn't with the LARP itself, but the people that had pre-regged and never came to pick up their characters. This is including the Russia, who would've had the most amazing time with the sheet that was written up!

Anyway, before I mentally tear those people apart, I'm going to share how I ended the day. After walking to Penn Station, I apparently crashed from those 5 hour energy drinks (that weren't supposed to end in a crash?,) and fell asleep on the train. Once getting home, when it was around 5:30, I went straight to sleep. About 17 hours later, I'm finally up.

Yes, I count this as a success for a convention.

New York Anime Fest is on the horizon, and it's remains to only be an hour's train ride away from me. Membership has been purchased, and all that remains at this point is to get the train tickets for those three days. It'll be a little tricky, as I'm not sure if I'll have to leave early on Friday for work.

Even more, I've been wanting to cosplay as Hungary (from Hetalia,) sooo much. Partially because she's awesome, and another part being that my hair is at a good length for it. I just wish I had the time and money for it... No such luck.

Guess I'll be wearing some casual-wear, and simply sporting a surrender flag for LARP.

New Desk

Alright, so heading to New York Anime Fest is official. Even if I stay home, it's only a train ride in to the city, and coming up and out of Penn Station, before walking down to the center. Which is really great. I even applied for NYAF's larp.

As Italy, as primary choice. I'll get practice!

In other news, I now have a new desk. While working, there was a perfectly good desk on the side of the road. I mean, no stains, scratches, or anything like that. Mine was falling apart, and I did a judge of dimensions to see if it would fit in my desk nook. Surprise, it was an exact fit, and now I have more surface space than before.  I can play on both laptops at once, without feeling cramped, now!

A rant to release heat, which bleeds in to the Otakon report of events. ) Edit: The rant thing? Just a one-sided thing to release some heat. It was both of us, meaning me as well, but nothing that we were both from.
demonia: (Default)
So, some of you know that I'm going to Otakon. Some of you are also going, and we're all going to enjoy a good time. (Suzumiya, put your classmate DOWN!)

Those who aren't aware, there was a giveaway for VAMPS' concert tickets. I was slow in checking the site, so I just found out today. Apparently I was one of the randomly chosen winners. There's some sort of humour in the fact that the news post came out the day after I purchased tickets to the concert myself, and printed them out.

Why? Well, the thing is, I almost never win anything. I wasn't expecting to be one of the winners.

So, imagine me going 'holy shit' for about a couple minutes.

Now I have to think of what to do with this extra ticket. Maybe one of my roommates?

PS2 Swag!

Alright, now I'm finally catching up to gaming systems!

A decade late. Whoops.

So, Target had a sale this week; PS2 slim for 99 bucks. Then there was a 'buy 2, get 1 free' sale on the games. I've been wanting to get one for a long time now, and with Silent Hill: Shattered Memories coming out in the fall, I knew it was the best time to take advantage of this. Afterwards, I went to Game Stop for cheaper things to add to the system.

What did I get home with? Let's find out, shall we?

  1. Silver PS2 slim (have to start somewhere, right?)
  2. Game Stop Controller and used memory card. Both cheap, and the controller is more comfortable than the one that came with the system.
  3. Tomb Raider: Underworld.
  4. GTA: San Andreas
  5. Kingdom Hearts: RE: Chain of Memories
  6. Devil May Cry 5th Anniversary Collection
  7. Unlimited Saga

Not a lot at first, I know, but all three DMC games, with the third being Special Edition, for 25 bucks? Had to have.

Oh, this is going to be -so- much fun.

demonia: (Callisto Hobby)
Alright, quick update.

Anime Boston was awesome. Was kept so busy, I didn't really get to do anything in the Dealers Room (save for having and impromptu Yami no Matsuei photoshoot.) I went to both Dating Games, Masquerade (started the 'take it off' chant,) and cosplay chess. Oh! And the formal ball as Itoshiki Nozomu from Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei! From there, I tangoed with the Spy from Team Fortress 2 and rumba'd with an old friend of mine.

I've been sick. For about a month now, actually. It started from a bridal shower, where the place had wicked cold air conditioning. Which wasn't pleasant with the warm and humid day outside. Then, with working outside in the freezing rain, I stayed sick. Anime Boston didn't help, so I'm hoping the weather will be kind enough to let me recover.

Otakon in July! LARPing will be my usual thing.

Finished the alternate Muraki coat, which fits better than I had expected. Put that with the new white slacks, and yummy~

That is all. Seeya!

Holy fucking ow.

Why such a harsh reaction? Well, you know those back molars, sometimes I believe they end up being called Wisdom teeth? Well, they're starting to grow in. So, aside from the feeling of the tooth going through the gums and tearing them apart, I get blood every time I brush and rinse my teeth! Not cool, mouth. Not cool at all.

It's also been too cold to go out and do the exercise I want to do. Like, I really wanted to go out, bike, and making jog a lap around the mall. It's pretty fucking big, so even briskly walking around will do something to your body.

Instead, for now, I have glutes that are recovering, for whatever reason. That is not an area that actually needs to be worked on.

demonia: (Tatsumi's evil laugh)
Eventually I'll have to make a suitable icon for it, however... While this is late, it should be noted!

I have finished the Itoshiki Nozomu cosplay!

I also have a spare Hakama, which is striped, to wear. I'll probably look for more fabric, again, for a second kimono. Then, maybe, I'll think about sewing up a Haori. Who knows, I might get all formal with this.

Nah...

I'm going to go and buy a Kaku-obi, which is one that's stiffer and easier to tie up and stay still.
In fact, I know exactly where I should buy it, having purchased tabi and the striped hakama from there.

Go ahead and enjoy looking at all the pictures.

I'm more proud of the fact that I sewed the kimono, which I purposefully shortened for convenience (as it's going to be under my hakama when worn,) without any help. Though it reminded my of my hatred for collars. Curse you, collars!  emot-argh.gif Argh! picture by Dragon_GAIA

Suicide kit is on the way to being finished, as well. I just need to spiffy up the outside, manage the inside, and make Itoshiki's version of a Death Note.

Other news, I'm going to start jogging and biking again, once the snow melts. I was supposed to start on Sunday, but then BAM! Rain and snowy mix, then we got snow twice in a row, and it's still not safe enough to go around with a bike, or running outside. So I'm going to try to start again this coming Monday.

I've also finished watching through Junjou Romantica, MoonPhase, and am keeping tabs on the xxxHOLiC and Tsubasa OVA's that are coming out now. Also, speaking of Tsubasa and xxxHOLiC- OMG! I've been able to follow most of the twists in the series, and maybe I had an inkling, but I didn't that that was whom Fei Wong was trying to bring back. As I said, inkling, perhaps, but not able to tell that well. I want more. D:

Ugh

I was almost in an accident last night, on the way home from work.

It seems that there's this patch on a well-used turn, going up to a bridge, that ices when everything else is dry. So we ended up skidding. Of course, even with a seatbelt on, part of me sits at a strange elevation. While just missing the glass, part of my head hit where you adjust the height of the seat belt's base at the door frame.

I've waited out the headache, with some tea and movies. Now it's the case of letting the nausea, probably from shock, and ache go down. Not to mention, avoiding the right side of my head when it comes to pressure.

Really, it's also brought me to decide to clean out some contact lists, as well as friends lists in various places. I just have a couple more sites to go through. Mostly getting rid of one in particular, who I've grown tired of 'waiting' for. I'm not someone that's there to ignore and talk to when it's convenient, and you have absolutely no one else to talk to. Well, that one person, and people I haven't seen in the last year or so.

Also have been working on cosplay stuff. Itoshiki Nozomu's hanging prop was finally fixed and optimized. When I want, I can fix something up so it looks like I'm actually hanging. No poles flying around, swinging to the side, or anything like that. All that's left is for the yukata to be finished up (which I have to paint X's on before continuing on with that,) and the portable suicide kit that Ada (Putrocca/K-san at Anime Boston,) will be sending this week.

Guess that's essentially it.

Bah

You know the one. Where you think that nothing would change if you just disappeared for real?

I don't like feeling this way, and trust me when I say that I don't want to either. I'd say it's not a way to try and get attention, but that's exactly what I'm lacking. No, not on the site. People I'd talk to on a regular basis have drifted away. Some just ignore and decide not to realize I'm around. You know, the ones that are really on, keep up an away message so that no one bugs them, and chooses who to talk to.

Then watch them say 'you never said anything' when the issue comes up.

I just know that, if I uninstalled my instant messengers, turned off my phone for good, and isolated myself... No one would do anything, or care. Part of me says that it knows this is true. Another says that someone might think of something about it...

This has kept me depressed enough that I don't want to work on my art. It becomes an issue of 'it doesn't matter.' Hell, barely anyone looks at the crap anyway.

I suppose I'll just have to blame this on weather, or something. Maybe... I just don't feel like typing, or doing anything, anymore.
demonia: (Paris Hilton)
It seems that, in these past couple of weeks, I've been given quite the amount of luck when it comes to finding good furniture. The day of Black Friday-

Well, let me clear one thing up. When I deliver papers on Friday, it's in one of the richer places in my area. They're the types that throw out perfectly good furniture, from couches, bedframes, china cabinets, vanities, and dressers, out for the latest styles that they can get for cheap. So we tend to see things out on the curb on Black Friday, around New Years, and at some point in the Spring.

On Black Friday I found this small side-table cabinet that you'd see in a living room. Nothing wrong with it, save for a bit of laminating coming up, and it's in one of those designs that require real, good, wood, that's not made anymore. I liked the shape, it caught my eye, so I ended up grabbing it. Now, while I was afraid of it not fitting where I was planning on stashing the small cabinet table, after taking the knobs off of a drawer on my bed that I never use, it fit perfectly. So I put shipping supplies in there, and had a new place to lean on.

This Friday we were doing the route, and automatically passing one house, my eye caught this black trunk. Like one of those older-styled trunks that would be placed at the end of a bed. After getting more papers cleared out, I took a look at it. No real stains, and the worst damage was the leather covering being torn at one corner, and a little gunk on the back. Inside was clear, and nothing for lining at the time.

Know what I think it'd be perfect for? Cosplay supplies, the cosplays themselves, and if I get some wheels to screw and bolt in there, with the handles I'll only have to bring that one piece of luggage around with me. If I go to Lowes, I'll probably end up finding something good to stick for lining as well.

Recently, I was able to find Anna Tsuchiya's latest album (Nudy Show,) Kanon Wakeshima's single (Skip, Turn, Step? Or is Suna no Oshura the latest?), and Olivia Lufkin's latest mini-album called Trinka Trinka.

I'm also happy on one other thing. Though the chances are high that I have PCOS, which does make it hard to lose weight, and half the women with it end up overweight/obese, I have been losing. It's gradual, but I'm definitey making progress on a visual level. My niece, who had married around Thanksgiving, was even surprised. Then again, this also had reminded her of my late father, in that with the thinner I've gotten, I look quite the amount more like him than my mother.

I don't know, I've been working hard, so I think I'm being rewarded with the holiday season coming on through. I just want this to keep coming in.

So I'll continue working hard, and when Census comes around, I'll be applying for a job there as well. Due to the economy, and the fact that I'm not part Latino, (which shouldn't matter legally, but it does with the population in my area,) it's become more difficult to get a job.

Ah, and I'm trying to work on something art-wise that's not design doodles. I hope it's an improvement, despite how long it's been since I've drawn anything.

Of Health

I decided to let you in on something that I haven't been giving much announcement towards. However it's definitely something to be supported, and not embarrassing. These last few months, I've been increasing my exercising regimen to tone up my body. The muscle is there, it's not toned, and thus I look like a fat slob. Sure, I may have fat, but it's nowhere near as bad as the scale would make people think.

So, let's get to some actual development, alright?

I just got finished exercising for today. Though I should've been resting after what I did yesterday, I wanted to be a little persistent, considering I'm attending a wedding celebration this Thursday.

Let me put this in perspective first; I used to dance. Key word is 'used to,' as in when I was around 5-9/10/11 years old. While I was good for the dance class, there were some things I just wasn't able to do. Mainly because of leg issues that led me to quit back then, that caused leg collapses, knee pain, and me falling down, and up, the stairs. It was that issue that led me to, well I don't want to say depression, but in a slump that brought me to give up quickly on various exercises, and have trouble keeping fit.

So towards the end of todays, I decided to try something I never could do. It's not the position for crab walking, but the bridge difference, with arms over your shoulders instead of going straight down and having your elbows bent while supporting your weight.

I never could, partly because of my back, and because I had trouble balancing my weight so it wasn't simply in my legs and body. It wasn't perfect, but I was able to prop myself up and stay stable.

Earlier I brought up that my goal wasn't in numbers, due to the issue of muscle mass as well. So I went to appearance and ability. This feels like a huge milestone.

Now, I'm going to let my body rest for a while. Despite having pushed myself for this stretching feat (hah, it's a pun,) I know not to overdo and completely ruin all of the progress I mentioned.

Also, I'm making sure to drink plenty of water.

Of Art

I've been trying to get back in to the art stuff, digitally. Especially with my computers fixed up, one better than ever, and Photoshop reinstalled. I'm out of practice, however. So it might be a while before I get back in to the shape of things. I want to make my next deviation an improvement, after al.

Of Cosplay

You could say that I like trying to improve in areas I'm familiar with, yes?

Well, aside from planning to go to Otakon, and LARP, I've been wanting to cosplay this character as well. ^azarath would know what I'm talking about, especially if she's been following the LARP mailing list, which I know she had. :P

Long story short, I've decided to make my next cosplay Itoshiki Nozomu, from the following series:
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei!
Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei! (2nd Season)
Goku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei! (OVA)

Now, how is it an improvement? I've decided to actually make the kimono myself. Mandarin collar work shirts are a bit more advanced, so I'd save on that, and hakamas have pleats, which would be a bitch for a beginner like me. xD Baby steps, yes? Plus, I found the perfect hakama on eBay for an excellent deal. With a wig I can easily restyle, and thus make it usable for Dr Nii and Itoshiki, and with the tabi and sandles, it's perfect. If feeling especially ambitious, I'll work on a regulation-safe hangmans noose, and a 'suicide kit.'

If all goes to plan, it should be done in time for Anime Boston.

Someday, I'm determined to finally get a female cosplay done. First things first though, right? I can't give up on a character I really love.
demonia: (With love)
So, today I spent another 5 hours doing yard work. Towards the end (as it started to get dark,) some woman and her brood of kids walked by. Some of them stop, look at me, then go in to our yard to jump in one of the piles.

]:<
Damn brats.

Some may argue that it's our fault for not having a fence. I counter with the fact that our last fence had been knocked down by someone's car. I also counter with the fact that people should teach their kids not to trespass, or ruin 4/5 hours worth of work!

...
I can't feel my hands. D:

Holy F-!

Nov. 16th, 2008 07:52 pm
demonia: (Default)
Holy fuck, I'm tired. Mostly my hands, however. Usually, on Sunday, I stick with simply inside things to do. This time? Oh, how I was wrong.

Then again, it's my fault for doing so on a whim.

First it was yard work. Now, to get an idea, the front yard is larger than the house, ja? Tack on two very old, large, oak trees that have so many fucking leaves. Add in the weeds that Long Island that love to grow around everywhere. Now realize that I have to deal with it all on my own, no help, and only a rake and gloves to deal with it all. I'm still not done raking. Between the rain and work, I haven't had the chance to get more than the strip of grass outside the property finished.

I got about half the leaves raked, most of the weeks pulled (from the roots, the best I could,) and taking down a dead cherry tree that's been up.

I did all that for two hours.

Once going inside, I gathered up all my other clothes. After taking a shower, as we have no washing machine, I hand washed all my darks, then colors, followed by the whites, and ending with the towels. It's a surprise I can even type, with how tired my arms and hands are.

Now to wake up at 6AM, bike, walk, and get back home to continue all that yard work... If it doesn't rain again.

Did I mention that I haven't even gotten to bagging those leaves?

Not Dead

Nov. 15th, 2008 03:29 pm
demonia: (Default)
Really, I swear I'm not dead. Not yet, at least.

So a bunch of technological crap happened at once. My laptops apparently joined together in a suicide pact, and died on the same day. So I've been working on getting everything to fix them. Funny thing about this pact, is that they didn't go out in the same way.

Old Laptop:
Hard drive failure, after all these years. No way I'm giving up on it, though. It ran smoothly, and has Wave Out Mix for video recordings. Current laptops don't have that feature for the sound card drives! Either way, after that 08 Fail on the HDD test, I went to Newegg and purchased a new, better, HD, as well as a memory card.

New Laptop:
Apparently the motherboard was faulty, which is why it started to fail. Once I got the diagnosis, I contacted HP to set things up for repair. It arrived at the repair place yesterday, so I'll hopefully get it back in a couple of weeks. It might not become my main laptop at home, but with the battery, I'm definitely toting it around on trips. (It's much lighter than the older laptop.)

I've also been doing a bunch of other things. A new morning regimen of biking for about half an hour, more if feeling well, no matter the weather. Soon I'll be adding a lap of walking as well, after the biking. A shame it's winter, though.  I'm so sensitive to cold!

Hats are working on being made, but there's only one completed one at the time. I've tried applying to jobs, but over here they don't want you if you aren't hispanic, as they take over the majority of the population around here. A shame, huh?

Convention stuff! Oh, convention stuff... Still planning to go to AB and Otakon, and I'm working on a cosplay all on my own this time. After sewing up the yukata and undergarment, I'll be in despair in no time! (Itoshiki Nozomu, if you couldn't tell from that hint.)

Oh, I'm also a goon now. I fell to the dark side. Oops?
demonia: (Tatsumi's evil laugh)

I like that I can choose between a hair clip, or a ribbon. ]:<

Done
- Dry clean Nii Cosplay
- Fix Mr Bun Buns
- Get 'rave' clothes put together
- Clean room
- Restyle Nii wig
- Make mini-Loli hat to go with 'rave' outfit

To Do
- Laundry
- Grab some batteries at the 99 cent store
- Go to Hot Topic and buy some hair extensions
- Brush out ponytail extension
- Officially 'pack.'
demonia: (Paris Hilton)
So, I've been hard at work on something. It's far from big, and the point is to make it small. If it goes well, and the response is positive enough, I'll hopefully open up commissions for making more.

One thing I'm liking for this, is that I'm adding loops, so one can choose to thread through a hair clip/bobby pin, or a ribbon based on their tastes.

For now, that's just the progress. As you can see (hopefully,) I painted pinstripes on to the hat, and the bottom of the brim, and top of the accessory itself, with white. I think that, and the loops, would be the easy part. I'm working on the ribbons, and a bit of beading as well.

As I said, if I get a positive enough response at Otakon, I'll provide commissions for a nice cheap price. At most, it'd probably be 15 dollars, and then cheap priority USPS shipping.

Inventory:

Ribbon & Acrylic Sting Pearls

Tulle

Beads & Feather accessories

Fabric Paints

Bah. With work, preparing for Otakon, and this... I'm exhausted.
